I’m not a foodie, so I never post recipes. More or less I just moan about not being able to scarf down a dozen cookies with little observable change in my waistline. Food is somewhat of an irritant to mid-life.
Nevertheless, as I was making donuts for my kids this morning, I had the sudden urge to share this fun and easy recipe. These donuts are quick and delicious!
1. Buy the 4- pack of refrigerator biscuits. Flour your countertop or cutting board. Roll out each biscuit with a rolling pin. Use a biscuit cutter (I just use the center circle since the biscuits are already round) to cut the holes.
2. Heat canola oil in a deep frying pan on medium-low heat. Watch carefully and turn down heat for your second batch, as the oil increases in heat over time.
3. Fry donut holes first, flipping them when they turn light golden brown. Roll in granulated sugar when done. Then fry donuts. Be careful not to overlook. They cook in about 30 seconds per side.
4. Make icing glacé by stirring in about a quarter cup of milk with a few cups of powdered sugar, adding milk or sugar until you reach the consistency you want.
Enjoy!! (My kids’ friends have always requested donuts when they spend the night.)
