    I’ve gotten into the habit of redecorating wheneve I’ve gotten into the habit of redecorating whenever Shane is out of town. My work mess (aka change) doesn’t stress him out because he doesn’t have to live in it. And decorating makes me so happy. It feeds my creative soul. So far, I’ve wallpapered a wall in the dining room @lovevsdesign (you get to design your own custom wallpaper!), I sanded and painted the banisters black because the yellowing stain was really annoying me, and I’ve measured and put up wainscot wall moldings in the front hallway. Today I’ll caulk and paint them. I got pre-measures trim on Amazon—I’ll tell you how I like it once I’m done. So far, I highly recommend. I’m throwing a party tomorrow. More changes to go—need to paint door and take the carpet off the stairs, so check back to see the final results!! I also might paint the ceiling blue, since I’m leaving the walls off-white at this point. 👏🏻👏🏻🩷 Honey, if you’re seeing this post, prepare yourself for a lovely change.     I miss my mom. I miss refinishing furniture togeth I miss my mom. I miss refinishing furniture together, going book-shopping and rummage-saling, discussing literature, baking pies and cookies & eating them, going to museums, taking my kids to the park... the list goes on and on. But the beautiful thing is: we did those things a thousand times. I remember them. I feel her every time I do any of it. I feel her love, and my grief becomes sweet and painful all at once. I don't care what Mom accomplished, although it was significant, and I'm proud of her. I remember all the little moments together, like her hand on my forehead when I had a fever and her letting me crawl in bed with her when I had a bad dream. She was able to transfer to me her faith and values BECAUSE she was with me all the time, doing life together. Giving me her time made giving everything else possible. Mom left me good memories. What could be more important to my development as a human than that? So--just a reminder. Give yourself to your kids and grandkids. Give your time. Don't worry about the other stuff. It doesn't last and doesn't mean anything anyway. #parenting #mothering #seizetheday #timewithkids #howtoloveyourkids
